Currently I have a SuperMicro P6DGU dual-PIII motherboard that I am trying to install to. This motherboard has an Adaptec AIC7890 on board, a 3C509c NIC, and IBM LVD SCSI-3 drives. There is also an OnStream tape drive on the other SCSI channel, but I have it disconnected whilst trying to figure this out. This machine has run Linux without any problems, but I would much rather run FreeBSD on it. So I used Partitition Magic to wipe the drives clean, made root and boot floppies of 4.1-Release, and figured I would be FTP'ing the OS in no time. Unfortunately, that was 4 days ago. The system invariably hangs with no error messages after (this is with boot -c): ================================================================== Mounting root from ufs:/dev/md0c start_init: trying /sbin/init start_init: trying /sbin/oinit start_init: trying /sbin/init.bak start_init: trying /stand/sysinstall da0 at ahc0 bus 0 target 0 lun 0 da0: Fixed Direct Access SCSI-3 device da0: Serial Number AJHRZ807 da0: 80.000MB/s transfers (40.000MHz, offset 30, 16bit), Tagged Queueing Enabled da0: 8748MB (17916240 512 byte sectors: 255H 63S/T 1115C) da1 at ahc0 bus 0 target 1 lun 0 da1: Fixed Direct Access SCSI-3 device da1: Serial Number AJHRZ811 da1: 80.000MB/s transfers (40.000MHz, offset 30, 16bit), Tagged Queueing Enabled da1: 8748MB (17916240 512 byte sectors: 255H 63S/T 1115C) ================================================================== At this point it just hangs :( Any input or suggestions would be most appreciated. I have tried it with different video cards and even with all the hard drives disconnected and it still hangs. I suspect the SCSI controller, but I am at a loss.
