When I cvsup'd ports last > night and tried to build kde2.1, it died on kdebase. Run make clean and try again. I had to comment out koffice from the kde2 port's Makefile, and it worked ok. Btw, the packages were built with X 4.0.2, so if you're not running that, that could be part of the problem.
