FBSD 2.2.7

ate0 does turn off echo on my modems,
but even though i use it to initialize
both the dialer and the dialups, the
"chat" debug in my ppp.log's always show
an "echo".  e0 responds with OK and does
turn echo off from the "term" ppp utility ...
