Hi, I am trying to test BSD to send out newsletters for my company. The FreeBSD box is basically a forwarder box that takes input from our internal mailer program and then feeds it to a SMTP mailer. So basically all it has to do is to do massive amount of forwarding with sendmail. What I am discovering is that it will only open 1 SMTP connection to our SMTP server instead of as much as possible. With Linux I get up to 200-300 sendmail processes. The sendmail.cf I use for both (Linux and FreeBSD) are identical, and I am running sendmail 8.9.3. The FreeBSD is 3.2-Release. My question is, are there settings with a rc file or a kernel switch which I can to force it to spawn more sendmail processs with FreeBSD? (I already recompiled the kernel). I guess this is a performance related question. I would really like to get rid of Linux and go with BSD on all our servers, and getting this to work will defiantely help me win BSD converts.
