Originally 70ns, but changing to 60ns has allowed the software to install (at the premises of our supplier) I am told that this may be de-rigeur for P100 systems, so it might be an idea to add it to the hardware notes on the FreeBSD web site. I think this is probably it, but we have to do a bit more work here to be sure, still it appears that the "install panics kernel" problem is now history at least. Thanks to you all for all your help.
