Which javac are you using?  If the later, it's working on a couple
hundred K java program at work, plus all of the, plus the complete
JDK. :)

The javac in the JDK on the WWW page http://www.freebsd.org/java/ works
fine.  If it doesn't for you, then the code you are compiling is old
and/or broken.
