It sounds like we're in the same situation. I, too, h= ave made the most progress via  xf86-input-mouse and been thwarted at = the last moment by the incorrectable inverted axis problem.  It seems = like the best solution now is to add "FlipXY" intelligence to bsd_mouse.c a= nd call it good.
