Do you know if System Commander can overcome the 500mb limitation? Most BIOSes can't boot any OSs beyond the 500mb limit. You might try starting the boot floppy and specify `wd(0,a)/kernel' to the Boot: prompt and see if you can get FreeBSD to boot.
