     No, the SMP limitations are (currently) in FreeBSD.  The SMP code
in FreeBSD is very tightly tied to Intel's SMP architecture.  While it's 
theoretically possible to modify FreeBSD for non-Intel SMP, it would be
a lot of work.  For more information, see:

     The bottom line is that (curretnly) only Intel chips can be used
for FreeBSD SMP.
