go to the directory;

/usr/share/examples/cvsup
edit the file stable-supfile and change the line
* default host=CHANGE_THIS.FreeBSD.org
to
* default host=cvsup.ca.FreeBSD.org

or a server in you area.

Then as root, type
# cvsup stable-supfile
