In Linux, my two NICs were referred to (always) as eth0 and eth1. In FreeBSD, they're called rl0 and xl0. These names seem to relate to the driver (i.e., rl0 is a Realtek 1839). Is this actually the case or am I misunderstanding something? Are there occasions when you'd refer to them in a more abstract way -- e.g., eth0/1? Thanks.
