I think you're actually asking why some X application pukes,
complaining about some shared library like libXaw.so.6 right?
If so, adding the path to the X libraries (/usr/X11R6/lib, usually)
in /etc/rc.conf will help after the next reboot:
Find this line:
ldconfig_paths="/usr/lib/compat /usr/X11R6/lib /usr/local/lib" # shared library search paths
