Version 2.2.5 properly detected a sound blaster card... it worked fine. I believe I had to enable it correctly in the BIOS, and change the IRQ in the kernel to match the BIOS config... that's all there was to it. I haven't used 3.0 or 3.1 on that machine, so I don't know about those versions.
