Using BIOS I disabled the parallel port. I disabled the onboard sound support. I have a quite old Dell Optiplex GMTX whose BIOS does not understand pnp, no way of knowing about drq settings using BIOS, so I set up pnp parameters using boot -c (my previous mail has the setup line I entered).
