This is a summary of what went on, so folks know.

I originally went to fix gnuplot, which was broken because gd didn't
work anymore. Because of some statements I'd read, and the fact that
the gnuplot authors (on their ftp site) specifically wanted you to use
an older copy of the gd library (which they even kept a copy of for
you), I made a port of the old 1.4 version of the gd library.

A few days later I was able to locate the Unisys statement regarding
their LZW patent. I was horrified to find that their postion was
actively hostile to free software, so I immediately marked the port
broken.

I've removed the gd-old port entirely, and I changed the gnuplot port so
that there isn't a gif terminal available for gnuplot anymore. I don't
know where we stand on many other ports, but this is obviously the right
thing to do for this port. Anyhow, for amanda-24 and any other ports
that want gnuplot (like octave), gnuplot is available and works fine.
