Having said that, you can use multiple servers in a news cluster by using XREF slaving. In this mode, one server allocates article numbers to inbound articles, and the `slaves' use the header information to preserve article numbering. Its not by any means a real clustering environment, where data and resources are shared, but it does allow you to run a large news installation on lots of small machines. The only requirement is that all the machines have the same ammount of disk space, otherwise it could get confusing. They all have full spools...
