Find "nmap" on the web (from memory it's from http://insecure.org/),
perhaps searching for it at (http://freshmeat.net/). It has a good
description of how it discovers what operating system. Furthermore, last
time I looked at http://www.netcraft.com/ there was a link describing
how it worked...

Oh? Security by obscurity doesn't work at all. I should be able to know
anything that can be publicly known about your operating system without
causing you to be concerned for your security.
