Hello again. To refresh the memory, I am the totally blind system administrator who was trying to install freebsd from a remote serial terminal. Thanks first of all to those who replied with instructions. I have tried many stepps, but to no success getting speech through my terminal emulator to complete the freebsd install. As Doug White wrote in a message to me, if a -h was typed after the kernel boots, everything should be rerouted to com1 at 9600 baud. He also warned me that the installer program uses a gui. Well, I put in the bootfloppy and waited for disk activity to stop. I typed: -h and hit the enter key. The disk started churjning again, and nothing for about 12 seconds, and the hard drive started making noises. But, after all that no speech. I then rebooted, waited for disk activity to stop, hit enter this time, and waited for disk activities to stop again, then typed -h and enter. Still nothing. Just to make sure everything was plugged in correctly, I launched linux, and got speech running just as I usually do. If I may be doing something incorrectly, would someone please correct me. :) I almost hate to bring this up, because I know how busy the freebsd developers are. However, could it be possible to have a text-based install floppy? I can tell you first hand, I am not the first blind individual to use unix, and of course, as many of you know, freebsd does have a lot to offer. Like I said, I am not asking for a handout, but I would like to see some kind of solution if at all possible, but I understand the plates of the developers are overflowing with things to do. :) Sorry for the long post, but just wanted to update everyone on my adventures in trying to get freebsd install to talk. Thanks. Jeremy
