I'm sorry I have no alternative solution to propose, if you need the old
version you can fork the port.

I'm personally neutral towards rust , but I agree it contributes to a tende=
ncy
of open source software to grow expensive dependencies (for example everyth=
ing
is now growing dependencies on HTML rendering engines with all the problems
that entails). But it looks like the world has already made a choice about
this, fighting this choice looks like fighting windmills.
