https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D269762 Bug ID: 269762 Summary: config(8): DEBUG KERNELS section needs updating/removal Product: Documentation Version: Latest Hardware: Any OS: Any Status: New Severity: Affects Only Me Priority: --- Component: Manual Pages Assignee: bugs@FreeBSD.org Reporter: mhorne@freebsd.org CC: doc@FreeBSD.org The text in this section has rotted quite a bit. - "building a debug kernel is not the default with FreeBSD" -- this is not true even for GENERIC-NODEBUG. We always build with debugging symbols and s= trip them to the separate kernel.debug - Various mentions of disk/memory usage are way too small and should be dropped. - We are too far into the present to be talking about "Traditional BSD kernels" or 4.4BSD-Lite kernels in this page. In my estimation, removal is more appropriate at this point. Even with up-to-date information, I don't know how much value it really provides in t= his era where kernel build/install is wrapped by buildkernel and installkernel. https://man.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi?query=3Dconfig&apropos=3D0&sektion=3D0&= manpath=3DFreeBSD+14.0-CURRENT&arch=3Ddefault&format=3Dhtml --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.=
