The following reply was made to PR ports/177992; it has been noted by GNATS. From: Christoph Moench-Tegeder <cmt@burggraben.net> To: Raphael Kubo da Costa <rakuco@FreeBSD.org> Cc: bug-followup@FreeBSD.org Subject: Re: ports/177992: new port: astro/garmindev Garmin device drivers for QLandkarteGT Date: Sun, 19 May 2013 12:44:46 +0200 ## Raphael Kubo da Costa (rakuco@FreeBSD.org): > Are you sure qlandkartegt is actually a run-time dependency of this > port? I'd say this port is a set of plugins (or the like) for qlandkartegt. QlankarteGT runs fine without garmindev (it doesn't need to talk to your garmin, or you don't even have a supported garmin device - the qlandkartegt package as it is now works without garmindev, too); but the garmindev package is pretty much worthless without qlandkartegt. For the same reason (plugin, not "real" library), we don't need to call ldconfig. I tested the package with my eTrex and "everything works for me" (as far as the garmin protocol allows).
