I think three places [ etc/pkg, /usr/local/etc/pkg/repos, 2nd place in base=
, ]
  fourth:  hard coded DESPITE the above in the current DB in var/db/pkg?
  fifth: derived somehow from uname -a?

here: freebsd:12:x86:32
... when this issue resolved, could it please be added to 'man pkg|poudrier=
e|syntch|portmaster?|portupgrade?  [ the latter two when developed further =
]'=
