My FreeBSD version is 2.1.0. Unfortunately, FreeBSD 2.1 is *NOT* supported by the JDK. However, you might be able to get a libc.so.3.0 from a recent 2.2 system and see if it works. You'll probably also need to get more recent X libraries. We (the java porters) have decided that since FreeBSD 2.1 is no longer 'supported' by FreeBSD, we aren't going to support it either. (It's simply a matter of available resources). I've got a 2.1 box myself (I'm typing on it as we speak), but unfortunately it's not going to run the JDK anytime soon, since it's too slow and too painful for me to try and make it work there. In short, you can *try* to make it work, or a better suggestion is to upgrade to a newer version of FreeBSD, like 2.2.5 or better yet 2.2.6 (soon to be out). I'd avoid upgrading to 3.X. Nate ps. Note the library version does not correspond to the FreeBSD version. To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-java" in the body of the message
