There is precisely "make package" Also, portupgrade's -p switch, which is very nice, and i use it in very similar circumstances to you (in my case, a single nfs server on the network has the ports installed, and packages are kept up to date on it there) The packages are kept in /usr/ports/packages/All/, do check that making a package in the kde metaport does in fact package up each and all the dependencies as well, I know portupgrade does.
