AFAIK, they should all be '::'. This topic has come up more than once over the past few months. It will be in the archives with my name attached to it... The problem will occur under certain conditions. Having '::' avoids the problem. Here's an an example: [dan@lists:/usr/ports/print/ghostscript-afpl] $ make -V PORTVERSION "Makefile", line 133: Inconsistent operator for pre-everything make: fatal errors encountered -- cannot continue As originally mentioned at http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/getmsg.cgi?fetch=740819+743383+/usr/local/www/d b/text/2001/cvs-all/20010916.cvs-all > I don't see what's so special with games/nethack-qt. > > Any ideas? Will Andrews sums it up nicely here: http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/getmsg.cgi?fetch=481921+485051+/usr/local/www/d b/text/2001/cvs-all/20011007.cvs-all I think it's a good idea to get this point added to the ports handbook. It's becoming an FAQ. > On Sun, Dec 30, 2001 at 09:48:46AM -0800, Dirk Froemberg wrote: > > dirk 2001/12/30 09:48:46 PST > > > > Modified files: > > games/nethack-qt Makefile > > Log: > > Change "file dependency specification" for pre-everything from ':' to > > '::' to fix problems with "make index". > > > > Revision Changes Path > > 1.35 +2 -2 ports/games/nethack-qt/Makefile > > -- > Dirk Froemberg > > FreeBSD: The Power to Serve! http://www.FreeBSD.org/ > > To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org > with "unsubscribe cvs-all" in the body of the message > -- Dan Langille The FreeBSD Diary - http://freebsddiary.org/ - practical examples To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe cvs-all" in the body of the message
