My biggest beef with this is that it requires all of the intelligence 
be in either the OSD consumer (browser), or an unconnected helper 
application.

There appears to be no way that you can say:

 - on this OS version I depend on A, B and C
 - but on that OS version, I need A, C, D and E

for example.
