Note:  After fixing this, there is an additional problem with ppp
which is that it has some internal permissions check:

jkh@zippy-> ppp
default: User access denied

I have no idea what this is, but it's probably also going to bite ppp
on sysinstall.  If it doesn't work by the time 3.3 is due (freeze is
in 5 days folks!), I'll simply remove ppp from the list of possible
installation options.  I haven't got time to chase this one down right
now. :(
