I have a couple of SBCs talking with wicontrol -p 3 set on both and they
work quite well. Note these are Orinoco cards and for some reason they
won't talk to a windows machine in ad-hoc mode. Between FreeBSD machines
just make sure they're both on the same channel and have the same netname.

On FreeBSD 4.7 wicontrol still works fine although ifconfig is recommended.
On 5.0 you'll want to use ifconfig for most things, but some functionality
was added to wicontrol.
