I also have the VIA 82C686 chipset (ATA66). I get the following error when I try to blank a CD(RW), 8x/4x media. # burncd -f /dev/acd1c -s 4 blank blanking CD, please wait.. burncd: ioctl(CDRIOCBLANK): Input/output error The console also report the following: acd1: BLANK_CMD - ILLEGAL REQUEST asc=27 ascq=00 error=04 The relevent dmesg output is: atapci0: port 0x1460-0x146f at device 7.1 on pci0 acd1: CD-RW at ata1-slave using UDMA33 I have tried other pieces of media to no avail. All work fine with the same hardware on Linux using cdrecord and Windows 9x and 2000 using Easy CD-Creator.
