He also spent extensive time bashing the stability of early Suns running early versions of Emacs. Through the entire intro, I had the feeling that the author was straining to find enough negative points to fill the intro. My final impression was that the book would be good for pointing out some of the fundimental difficulties that new users have, and maybe a few technical problems, but on the whole, the book would be dated and not relevant to the current generation of UN*Xs.
