Did you have a talk with the author? He is a ports committer himself (nork@FreeBSD.org, one of my mentees) and as far as I know he has a good reason not to put it into the official ports tree in the current shape. The wrapper has a known side effect which may cause serious problems if used with a plugin that the wrapper does not support.
