Date: Mon, 22 Nov 1999 00:18:11 +0000 From: Purrcat Sender: owner-freebsd-questions@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk X-Loop: FreeBSD.ORG Hi, When I tried to get OpenGL support to compile (see www.freebsd.org/~3d), I stumbled across a problem (?) with pkg_info. The GLX makefile checks if there's a sufficient version of XFree86 installed. pkg_info didn't report XFree86 installed, in spite of the fact that I was running this program from an xterm which should probably mean I did install XFree ;) I've got FreeBSD 3.3 running and installed XFree86 from the installation menu (yeah I know; /real/ people get the source and compile it ;), so my guess is that sysinstall doesn't update the package database after untargzipping XFree86. More precise; I don't think sysinstall updates anything not installed via the "packages" section (as I (and probably many other people) installed XFree via the "Distributions" menu). Could anyone check if I'm mistaken..? I must admit I don't do everything through the sysinstall program and maybe this could have caused the package database to be not correct.
