   The main compatibility issue seems to be the size of the SEEPROM that the
driver reads the configuration data from (like the MAC address). Some of the
newer cards had 256 words while the others have 64 words. The driver was
originally written for only the 64 word type since that was all that was
documented in the Intel design guide. I didn't add support for the larger
SEEPROMs until >4.0.
