Nope, nothing except a vague (and unreliable) memory of reading somewhere there was no improvement, so it wasn't pursued further. Luigi Rizzo posted an interesting comment. The lack of results puzzled me at the time since I read Linux supposedly got decent improvements at the beginning of their 2.6 branch.
