It's not important if it is build via apxs or not. I mentioned apxs
only because it's the standard way of building apache modules.

The main point of my question was if it is possible to create a
apache-ssl module without recompiling apache.

So it isn't possible to add hooks (patches) to apache13 for both
mod_ssl and "mod_apache-ssl"?

Yes, it would be nice if you could send me a test version (better
send it to ibex@physik.TU-Berlin.DE so the mail doesn't have to
cross the atlantic ocean twice). I could probably answer my questions
myself then... 8-)
