While the boxes would let a NIS based user log in - pine reported it couldnt figure out who a nis user was, and wouldnt expand the to: line names of people that were NIS based radius failed authentications with USER-ID missing errors erpcd (annex 4000) just wouldnt let in NIS based users without any error details. I checked and checked the master password file on the master nis server to no avail. I wrote test programs to work out the getpw.. routines - and they were fine. The problem occured only on my 2.2.5 machines - not my 2.1.5's - so then I compared some libs and noted that the sizes on libc.so.2.2 was different - I overwrote the ones on 2.2.5 with the one from 2.1.5 and the problem cleared.
