FreeBSD supports any standard video card with a text mode. :-) Now Xwindows, on the other hand, doesn't. Rather, XFree86 does not. XInside, Inc, as you mentioned, DOES have a server for this card. You'll have to buy that one but it's an excellent package, so I hear. X over modem will not be fun. :( Let's say it's not as snappy as your local display. It will work. You might try to find the low-bandwidth servers (?) and see if you can get them to interface to your Sun.
