I have done two things: 1: Installed the ppp code from -stable 2: Applied to it the patches written by Nate Williams for the -ddial option. It was suggested to me to use the -dedicated option but then there is no dialing whatsoever and my two courier modems do need a bit of tweaking to make them re-negotiate the connection, so the -ddial options worked best for me.
