OK, Given:

1) that this very definitely affected me after an upgrade to 14.1; and

2) poudriere is a big pile of zfs; and

3) pspp seems to have been producing this nonsense for some time (but not
affecting 14.0 or 13.3 builds);

I think this an example of the EN-24:10.zfs errata at work.

I'm recompiling a kernel now to test, but this seems highly likely to me.
