I expect it's because you either don't use floppies (which is a good thing,
I'd say), or have an alternative means to accessing them..in which case
could you tell me what it is?

Have heard a number of people comment on this, but no one mentions a
reason..could you shed some light on this?
Is there another shell that would be more intuitive to the uninitiated
newbie?
I've tried sh (<-naturally...figuring out how to make bash my login shell
was one of my many trials.), and csh, which I found very, very
user-unfriendly.
