I'm building from a -stable tree and using ~9M of real memory to boot multi-user w/ init, sh, syslogd, and sshd (Luigi's ssh1 port). My kernel is ~800K and the crunch'd app is ~1.6M. I figure most of the fat is in the VM configuration but before I start fiddling I thought I'd check if someone had already done the exercise.
