To make a long story short I'm attempting to install 10-CURRENT on my 2011 model 17 inch MacBook Pro. I downloaded the appropriate amd64 image from FreeBSD's FTP site, burned it out to DVD and installed it on my old FreeBSD 9 partition, erasing existing data. However, when I try to boot the new system, I get a "can't load kernel" error. Giving the command "ls" returns the message "Open '/' failed: no such file or directory". When I type "lsdev" the following is returned: "cd devices: disk devices: disk0: BIOS drive C pxe devices:" I can work around the problem by copying /boot from the FreeBSD 9 installer to my new FreeBSD 10 system, but I do believe this is not the right solution? And when I then boot off the system, I get a lot of other system errors. PS: my Mac does not have a real BIOS, so changing any BIOS settings is unfortunately not an option. I hope you can help me out and thanks in advance. Have a great day, everyone! Best wishes, Anders
