I'd look at http://www.corpsys.com/ they often have good drives at decent prices. Mostly refurbished or surplus... but the prices are good, and they have a warranty. I've been happy with them. Look at the "Web Store" section. The currently have a Archive SCSI2 F/H 16/32GB DAT-Includes a 4 cassette magazine for $495. And several DLT drives for less than $700. As to the quality of the backup.... have you restored anything yet? A backup is only as good as your last restore.... If it's new, see if the dealer will take it back.....
