Setting WITHOUT_NOUVEAU=yes in /etc/make.conf gives you a later version of the radeon driver. I can't recall if you've shown your xorg.conf. Have you seen any of my rants on AllowEmptyInput and the, err... avoidance thereof? After some searching yesterday, it looked like something to try would be disabling DRI in the Device section with Option "DRI" "Off". But my Radeon X1650 works fine with DRI enabled, and I wouldn't think the X1550 would be all that different. No KDE here, though. -Warren Block * Rapid City, South Dakota USA
