I am using two generic NE2000 ethernet boards. My wife and I call them
"Lower Botswana Boards (tm)" since no one seems to know where or by
whom the boards were manufactured. I think I paid $35.00 each for
them. They have been in service for almost a year with out any
complaints.

My guess is that if you are not expecting great performance and on a
local LAN most generic NE2000 are OK.
