It's a patch from Sun, presumably to fix things discovered after the CD was cut. I had 5.2 going briefly during 4.4-S days (installed from the CD I got with AUUGN, just like yours) but SO didn't like more recent changes to something on my system, and after a reinstall claimed not to find a configuration file which is definitely there. Fetching the thing via ftp yielded the same problem. My guess is some confusion in between linux.ko and the emulation glibc. (My first attempt used linux_base-7 and failed: I had to downgrade to 6, and even then had it working only for a few weeks.)
