Adding someone to the commit.allow file could be supported by a simple script, doing the following: . add the person to the commit.allow file \ could they be . add the person to a sendmail alias db include file / identical??? . run newaliases . probably mail some document to the newly added user stating our basic policy for CVS usage along with useful hints, e.g. let him know about some brokeness of CVS being unable to commit files from different directories - i once fell over this since nobody told me before :-( This document should be open to all CVS users so they can add their own comments. Since only very few people are allowed to add new CVS users, there's no big for things going wrong here. The commit script then needs to mail to the appropriate cvs-<area> list as well as to the above sendmail alias list containing all the people with commit authority. Makes two addressees in the To: line only. People having commit authority should unsubscribe from the cvs-<area> lists to avoid mail duplication. J"org
