Thanks for this! I lost a whole day tying to find what I had done wrong.
It seems that there was a similar bug back in May/2012.

There are 2 more verbose error messages involving this error:
1. "ps: cannot mmap corefile" and
2. some messgae about not being able to reach kernel process which may lead
you to think its a vdev (vdev.rules) config error.
