Well, I'm not the one configuring the box. I was just looking for dedicated server hosting and I found a $99/mo deal for an AMD 750Mhz - 128 RAM - 20 gb hd, and 1 or 2 IPs. I just wasn't sure how those specs could be priced that way. And no this is not an ad. Most AMD motherboards run the VIA chipset, not the best. Or you have ALi or AMD chipset itself. I currently run 2 amd systems one with the asus A7V KT133A and the other a MSI K7 master, the asus has both north and south bridge being VIA, the MSI has an AMD north bridge while the south is VIA. the MSI board I really like, it runs with ddr memory instead of pc 133. Both systems are solid asus board was rated highest of all 133A VIA chipset motherboards, just do some research on the board you want. I would recommend the MSI K7 Master server/workstation board i have now that DDR is really not a huge price difference over pc 133. Would suggest not buying the K7 Master online as there is a chance to get the first version with both north and south being AMD chipset, there where some issue's and resolved once going to AMD north and VIA south bridge. > Are there any problems with using an AMD chip as opposed to Intel's chips > when running FreeBSD?
