I might be just reading these emails too quickly, but it seems like you're not aware that most of the make-foo is already implemented. # cd /usr/ports/x11/XFree86-4 # make maintainer jmz@FreeBSD.org It would be trivial to add a MAINTAINER_COMMENT and echo that as well. I agree that it seems more flexible than the current flat text file, but I also agree that we shouldn't overengineer this.
